Status Effects

Abilities do more than deal damage: they leave lingering effects on whoever they touch. A hero can be poisoned, burned, stunned, or hexed by the horde; a hero’s own kit can buff itself or debuff the enemy. Every one of the 14 status effects below is live combat data, shown with the exact medallion icon the game paints on the battle status tray. Each entry lists what it does and every class and enemy that can apply it.

Statuses tick on the afflicted unit’s turn. Damage- and heal-over-time refresh (they do not stack) when reapplied; buffs and debuffs modify a single stat for their duration. See Stats for the underlying numbers and Combat Mechanics for how a turn resolves.

Poisoned

Poisoned Damage over time

Nature damage over time. The victim bleeds a flat amount of HP at the start of each of its turns. It ignores the target acting and stacks pressure on tanky foes. Signature of the Archer and Samurai.

Burning

Burning Damage over time

Fire damage over time. Hotter than poison but shorter, it chips away at the target each turn. The Mage’s go-to affliction.

Blood Price

Blood Price Damage over time

The cost of Frenzy. A self-inflicted damage-over-time paid in the Berserker’s own blood, the price for the Attack and Lifesteal it unlocks.

Crowd control

Stunned

Stunned Crowd control

Hard crowd control. The target simply skips its turns while stunned, buying the hero free actions. The strongest tempo swing in the game, so its duration is deliberately short.

Aggro magnet. Taunted enemies are forced to swing at the caster instead of choosing their own target, so a tank can peel a whole front rank onto itself.

A sapping curse. Lowers the target’s Attack, softening the damage it deals back for the duration.

A defensive shout. Raises physical Defense for the duration, blunting incoming melee and physical ability damage through the mitigation curve.

Withering Anti-heal

The Abyss’s curse (floors 91 to 100). All healing the afflicted hero receives, from lifesteal, ability heals, regen, and on-kill heals, is cut for the duration. It attacks the deep-floor sustain builds directly.

Abyss Hunger Enrage

The final boss’s enrage clock. Each turn it drains a rising fraction of the hero’s max HP as true damage that ignores Defense, Resistance, dodge, and crit. The longer the fight drags, the harder it bites. Applied only by Nyxara on floor 100.
